Job Location:               Poole, Dorset

Job Type:                     Permanent

Salary:                         £30,000 - £31,500 per annum

Hours:                          37.5 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 7.30am - 4pm & Friday 7.30am - 1pm

We are working with a specialist engineering company who undertake the manufacture and engineering works for motion systems. They are recruiting for a Workshop Assembly Engineer.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will play a key role in the assembly, inspection, testing, and repair of hydraulic components, ensuring products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. This is a varied hands-on role that would suit someone with a strong mechanical engineering background and experience working to tight tolerances.

Key responsibilities as the Workshop Assembly Engineer:

  • Assemble and disassemble hydraulic components to detailed build specifications.
  • Work to tight tolerances, maintaining high levels of precision and quality.
  • Inspect components during rebuilds and identify repair or replacement requirements.
  • Operate hoist cranes safely when lifting components.
  • Use workshop presses for the removal and installation of bearings.
  • Support the workshop team in completing tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist with inspection, testing, crack detection (NDT), and other workshop processes.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and adhere to 5S principles.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements.
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by management.

The successful candidate will possess;

  • Mechanical engineering experience within a workshop or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to assemble components accurately to tight tolerances.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of engineering tools and torque wrench applications.
  • Practical engineering skills and a hands-on approach.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible, professional, and proactive attitude.
