Our client, a leading firm in the energy sector with a focus on nuclear, oil & gas, is currently seeking a Welding Chargehand for a fixed-term position. This role will involve supporting the installation of secondary steel structures on the HPC site, ensuring all Health & Safety protocols and company policies are meticulously followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of operatives and supporting management
- Providing technical advice and proposing technical solutions as required
- Reviewing and approving technical & safety documentation
- Ensuring installation of works is as per design and process
- Delivering works on time and within budget
- Supervising contracted staff
- Managing and ensuring compliance with the NNB permit to work processes
- Attending coordination meetings
- Acting as Incident Controller (IC) and Trauma and Medical Immediate Care (TMIC)
Job Requirements:
- Strong team leader with attention to safety and quality
- Experience in data input and familiarity with HPC (desirable)
- Ability to set people to work and ensure works are delivered as per design, on time and on budget
- Excellent team working and relationship-building skills
- Strong communication and technical skills
- An eye for detail and problem-solving abilities
Qualifications - Essential:
- Level 3 Pipe Welder Apprenticeship Standard (ST0851) or equivalent
- Diploma in Welding Engineering Construction (Pipework or Plate)
- A minimum of 2 years'' experience as a Welder in a relevant industry
- CSWIP certificate or L2 PCN Certificate
- BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification
- One of the following: LATS, SSSTS, IOSH Managing Safely
Qualifications - Desirable:
- VT - CSWIP certificate
- TMIC trained (First Aid at Work trained)
- IC trained
- Permit Acceptor
