Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:00
Friday: 08:00 - 15:30
Total: 37 hours per week
Location: Durham County Council
 
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to undertake metal fabrication, installation and repair work on plant, vehicles, and facilities. The role involves working within a workshop environment and occasionally on site, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture and repair structural metalwork to meet operational requirements.
  • Carry out welding, fabrication, installation, and repair work.
  • Support routine inspections and maintenance of workshop and depot facilities.
  • Assist workshop staff with repair and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all work equipment is inspected and maintained in line with health and safety legislation.
  • Complete job documentation and records accurately.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
Requirements
  • Experience in metal fabrication and welding.
  • Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices in a workshop environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
