Water Operations Analyst
About the Role
This fixed term contract for up to one year, based in London, supports the safe operation of the clean water network across South London. The Water Operations Analyst works alongside Systems Optimisation Engineers and Leakage teams to maintain reliable supplies, manage pressure and resolve network issues. Duties include investigating pressure problems, customer complaints and alarms, supporting planned isolations and optimisation projects, and assisting during emergencies to limit disruption. Applicants should possess strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret operational information. Salary ranges from £34,820 to £40,000, dependent on skills and experience, working full time.
We’re looking for a Water Operations Analyst to join our team, supporting the safe and effective operation of our clean water network across South London.
You’ll work closely with Systems Optimisation Engineers, Leakage teams and other colleagues across the business, helping us maintain reliable water supplies, manage pressure and respond effectively when unexpected network issues arise.
Please note this is a fixed term contract for up to 1 year.
What you’ll be doing as a Water Operations Analyst
- Investigating pressure issues, customer complaints and network alarms, using data to understand problems and identify solutions.
- Supporting planned network isolations and optimisation projects.
- Assisting during unplanned and emergency events to minimise disruption to customers.
- Helping investigate longer-term network issues, including low pressure, low flows, resilience and network integrity.
- Making sure network activities follow the correct operational and risk-management procedures.
Working hours: 9 am to 5 pm (or 8 am to 4 pm) Monday to Friday
What we’re looking for
- A degree in a technical discipline such as engineering or science would be advantageous, or equivalent practical experience
- An interest in hydraulic systems, water networks and clean water operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational and performance data
- Good communication skills and confidence working with a wide range of stakeholders
- A proactive approach and genuine willingness to learn and develop a long-term career in the water industry
- A full UK driving licence and access to transport would be helpful (but not essential) as some travel across the Thames Water area required for this role
- This role will be paid from £34,820 up to £40,000 depending on skills and experience
- 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
