This Environment Agency priority attracts a great deal of attention and scrutiny from the government, media and waste industry.Responsibilities

Secure sustainable funding.Shape strategy to guide the organisation.Provide support and expertise to effectively embed strategy.Develop metrics and use data-driven insights to assess the scale of waste crime and the effectiveness of interventions.Advise and influence Defra to ensure effective powers and legislation to stop offending.Provide leadership on strategic communications and external engagement to deter waste crime.Deliver accurate and accessible information to inform, engage, and foster understanding across diverse audiences.Take a lead role in reviewing the Strategy to Reduce Offending in the Waste Sector.Engage extensively internally and externally and collaborate with key stakeholders including Defra, industry and operational teams to shape strategy.Utilise data to ensure that the strategy is grounded in evidence.Develop control plans to translate strategy into meaningful action across the organisation.Experience / skills Required

Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners in dispersed and external networks.Skilled at persuading others and influencing outcomes from a senior audience.Confidence to challenge how we work and be creative in building solutions that support efficiency and effectiveness.Enthusiastic, well-organised, and tenacious to keep work moving at pace.Clear communicator who works to get the best out of people.Track record of achieving results and experience of planning, managing, and delivering to tight deadlines.Ability to re-evaluate how we work to enable effective and efficient delivery.Previous experience in a regulation and/or enforcement.Broad understanding of the waste industry.An awareness of the strategic landscape challenges we face tackling crime in the waste sector.Development and Additional Information

You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.You’ll have an EA Office base location; as a national role the working location is flexible / hybrid. Some travel and overnights may be required. An inclusive incident management objective will be part of your development plan, and we’ll help you find a role to suit your needs.
