Waste and Contracts Manager Havering (Hybrid Working) £450 - £500 per day Umbrella Initial 3-Month Contract (Potential Extension) Full-Time Managing a small team of 6 Lead Strategic Environmental Services An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Waste and Contracts Manager to join a London Borough Council on an initial 3-month contract. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing environmental service contracts, driving service improvements, overseeing waste and recycling initiatives, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across the borough. Key Responsibilities Lead the procurement, commissioning, and management of environmental service contracts. Ensure contractors deliver high-quality, value-for-money services that meet performance standards. Drive strategic initiatives to improve waste management, recycling rates, and environmental outcomes. Manage budgets, performance data, and operational service delivery. Build and maintain strong relationships with elected members, senior stakeholders, contractors, and partner organisations. Prepare and present reports to senior management, committees, and other forums. Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. Manage customer enquiries, complaints, and service improvement programmes. About You You will have: Significant experience managing waste, environmental, or public realm services.
