THE BUSINESS
Our client serves the plastics industry from their Newcastle location. They have a diverse of products under their portfolio. With national recognition for quality at competitive pricing, they have gained a strong reputation to supply major blue-chip companies, stocking many household brand within their customer base.
The organisation currently has an £8.5M turnover and they are on target to grow the business to a £10M turnover by next year. The business is also dedicated to investing in all areas of the business.
They are a 24/5 high-volume manufacturer, producing various packaging and hold an AA grade in accordance with BRCGS Packaging Materials (issue 6). This is the highest award achievable.
THE ROLE
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Warehousing & Logistics Leader to oversee a small team of staff. This is a middle management role.
You will take responsibility for 2-day shift FLT Drivers and 3 FLT Drivers on shift.
The organisation logistics wise is responsible for 25-30 loads per week. The organisation also off loads deliveries and places these within a warehousing environment.
- To ensure housekeeping in the warehouses and its perimeter are kept to a high standard.
- Carry out regular stock checks when required, this includes the month end stock take.
- Ensure smooth running of the product storage operation in the warehouses and to ensure all finished products and raw materials are stored with care to avoid damage or contamination.
- Supervision of the forklift truck drivers ensuring they are aware of all relevant required tasks.
- Ensuring timely loading and unloading of trailers takes place.
- The health and safety of all personnel in the warehouse, including safe operation of forklift trucks, other equipment and safe practices in the warehouse and its perimeter.
- Ensure Warehouse equipment is maintained and compliant with Industry standards, liaising with other business stakeholders as required.
- Effective communications with the Works Director, Production Manager, Shift Manager, Quality & Compliance Manager / Quality Manager to ensure smooth continuation of the warehouse operation.
- All warehouse staff must be made aware of the importance of delivery and despatch documentation, and they must be checked and filled in correctly.
- Ensuring compliance with the relevant quality checks and awareness of all relevant standard operating procedures. Giving guidance to the forklift truck drivers in relation to quality standards required.
- Ensuring all staff are adequately trained in the relevant standard operating procedures.
- Ensuring that staff holidays are covered accordingly when required and ensure that staff are aware in advance so shift alterations/cover can be made.
- Ensuring the security of the warehouses and that doors are closed when the buildings are unattended. Ensuring the shutdown procedure is followed at the end of the working week.
- Liaising with the Quality & Compliance Manager / Quality Manager regarding management of products returned from the customer which may be defective including any damaged stock caused in house.

- Prior leadership/management experience
- Experience working within a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Standards driven
- Ability to ensure compliance and follow H&S
- Warehousing & logistics experience
- Ability to use inhouse stock management systems and computers
