OA are recruiting for a night shift Warehouse Team Leader to join our client’s established warehouse operation in Watford. This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional with previous team leadership or supervisory experience, who can lead and motivate a team while ensuring the day-to-day operation runs safely, accurately and efficiently.
As Warehouse Team Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating the warehouse team, allocating workloads, monitoring performance and ensuring operational targets and service levels are achieved.
Location: Watford
Hours: Monday-Friday 19:00pm-4:00am. 40 hours per week
Salary: £35,000 per annum

Warehouse Team Leader Key Responsibilities
• Lead, motivate and support warehouse employees to achieve operational targets.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the team.
• Allocate work effectively according to workload, staffing levels and operational priorities.
• Prioritise activities to ensure time-critical orders are processed and dispatched within required timescales.
• Monitor workflow, productivity, quality, attendance and operational KPIs throughout the shift.
• Ensure picking, packing, assembly, replenishment and dispatch activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Support the Shift Manager and Warehouse Operations Manager with operational planning and resource allocation.
• Conduct regular team briefings and ensure effective communication across the team and between shifts.
• Complete accurate shift handovers covering operational, staffing, stock, performance and safety information.
• Monitor individual and team performance, providing coaching, feedback and support where required.
• Assist with the induction, onboarding and training of new employees.
• Promote cross-training and employee development within the team.
• Support employee management processes, including attendance, performance discussions and return-to-work meetings.
• Ensure warehouse activities comply with MHRA regulations, GDP requirements, Company procedures and Health & Safety standards.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture and challenge unsafe practices where necessary.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse.
• Support accurate stock movements and ensure WMS transactions are completed correctly and on time.
• Monitor stock movements and support the investigation of stock discrepancies.
• Proactively identify and report operational issues, including stock shortages, equipment failures and system issues.
• Work closely with internal departments including Procurement, Inventory, IT, Transport and Technical Maintenance.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, quality and service levels.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote warehouse best practice.
• Lead by example and promote a culture of teamwork, accountability and professionalism.
• Carry out any other duties required to support the wider warehouse operation.
Warehouse Team Leader Skills and Experience
• Previous warehouse, logistics or distribution experience is essential.
• Previous experience leading or supervising a team within a fast-paced operational environment is essential.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Experience working within a KPI-driven environment.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Understanding of MHRA regulations, GDP requirements and Health & Safety standards.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise effectively.
• Good Microsoft Office skills.
• Knowledge of warehouse automation systems, including KNAPP, would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Lean or Six Sigma methodologies would be advantageous.
• Positive, professional and approachable with a strong work ethic.
• Dependable, reliable and accountable.
• Supportive team leader who can motivate, coach and develop others.
• Flexible and willing to adapt to changing operational requirements.
