Vice Principal – Maghaberry Primary School. Belfast, Northern Ireland. Full-time position. This job description may be amended at any time after discussion with the Principal and is not intended to be rigid.Responsibilities
Leading learning through example by high standards of teaching and learning.Assisting the Principal in all areas of leading learning and teaching, school administration, management and organisation.Assisting the Principal in leading School Development Planning, School Evaluation Self-Evaluations and Staff Development (INSET).Curriculum Co-ordination including overseeing the development and delivery of the curriculum across the Key Stages.Assisting the Principal in co-ordinating curriculum development, including planning, benchmarking, target setting, PRSD, monitoring the quality of provision within the school.Assessment coordinator for the school.Assisting the Principal in the promotion of positive behaviour and assertive discipline.Assisting the Principal with financial administration including budget planning and projections, allocations and monitoring spend and reconciliations.Responsibility for some timetables and rotas.Maintaining, developing and promoting formal and informal links with parents including the school PTA.Assist the Principal in organising major school events and providing lunch-time cover if necessary.Undertaking such other duties as the Principal may require.Professional Context
The Vice-Principal will deputise for the Principal when necessary and will have a full-time teaching commitment and membership of the School Leadership Team.Accountabilities and Development
Lead and support school development planning, school improvement and staff development; monitor quality of provision and pupil outcomes.Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding and pupil welfare within school policies.Contribute to financial planning, allocations and budget monitoring.Qualifications and Selection Criteria

– Hold a teaching qualification suitable for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland; be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) on taking up employment.Experience: minimum of 7 years post-qualification teaching experience in primary education or related work; evidence of strategic leadership or coordination of a whole-school area; experience in senior leadership roles (Principal or Vice-Principal) or equivalent leadership within an affiliated body.The ability to demonstrate leadership that leads to school improvement; involvement in strategic planning; leading staff development; whole-school assessment experience; SLT involvement in the last 5 years; and financial/budget management experience.Essential knowledge: NI Primary Curriculum, current policies, effective pedagogy, data management, and organisational management including resource deployment.Skills: leadership, vision, relationship-building, strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, workload management, staff matters under EA policies, and time management.Personal qualities: vision, integrity, motivation, resilience under pressure, tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, adaptability.Terms and Conditions
