Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

OverviewAlora Vets are seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. The practice offers a diverse and interesting caseload, including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, consults, endoscopy, laparoscopy, radiology, and general surgery. The role can be tailored to suit your clinical interests, providing plenty of scope for professional development.
Responsibilities and Schedule
Manage a varied caseload with opportunities in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, consults, endoscopy, laparoscopy, radiology, and general surgery.
Full-time ideally (40 hours) over 4–5 days per week, with flexibility for the right candidate.
Equal share in the 1:5 weekends (Saturday 8:30am – 1:30pm) with TOIL the following week.
Participate in a 1 in 5 rota for stable in-patients; OOH cover is provided by Vets Now.
About the PracticeAlora Vets is based in Whitburn, in a modern, purpose-built premises located just off the M8, approximately midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh. The practice is a busy first opinion clinic with a broad range of cases and a dedicated facility including:
Four consultation rooms and separate waiting areas for cats and dogs
Separate cat ward, dog ward and isolation kennels
Dental suite with dental x-ray, two operating rooms and a large prep area
Digital x-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment
Team and CultureCurrent team includes five veterinary surgeons with diverse clinical interests, including laparoscopic surgery, advanced dentistry and acupuncture. The practice has two certificate holders and a clinical director with a medical certificate alongside a lead vet with a dental certificate. The nursing team comprises a mix of HRVN, RVNs and a SVN, supported by ACA roles and a dedicated practice management and reception team.
