VAT & Bookkeeping Officer

Job Summary:
We are looking for a VAT & Bookkeeping Officer that will be responsible for VAT compliance, accurate bookkeeping, and client liaison. This is a key role within the firm, requiring strong attention to detail, proficiency in-VT Transaction+, and the ability to work independently to deliver high-quality service to multiple clients.

Key Responsibilities:

-Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple clients.
-Prepare accounts up to Trial Balance.
-Process VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
-Register clients for VAT and manage ongoing obligations.
-Post and reconcile transactions using-VT Transaction+-software.
-Manage accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
-Liaise with clients via phone and email to resolve queries.
-Assist with ad-hoc accounting tasks as required.

Requirements:

-Proven experience in bookkeeping and VAT processing.
-Proficiency in-VT Transaction+-software (essential).
-Strong knowledge of accounting principles and VAT legislation.
-Ability to prepare accounts up to Trial Balance.
-Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
-Confident and professional telephone manner.
-Strong organisational and time management skills.
-Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable:

-Previous experience in a practice environment (4+ years).
