Vacancy for Head of Research Data Management Provision at Bodleian Libraries

Overview

Head of Research Data Management Provision is an exciting new role, based within the Bodleian Libraries and providing strategic leadership in the delivery of specialist systems and services which support the effective management of research data across the University. The post is based in the newly-formed Open Scholarship Support department, which provides a central point for advocacy and strategy in the areas of open access, open scholarship, research data management, copyright and licensing, and digital preservation.Building on the outcomes of a recent review of Research Data Management at the University, you will have responsibility for setting the direction of the University’s data repository, ORA-Data, and for evaluating how the ORA-Data service - and complementary offerings across the University - could better meet the needs of academic researchers in a sustainable way. This is an exciting time for open scholarship and open access at the University of Oxford. In particular, as Head of Research Data Management Provision, you will play a key role in the implementation of nascent funder policies as they relate to research data requirements. A confident strategist and communicator, you will also be working with researchers to shape and support the rapidly evolving areas of open data and reproducible research.Responsibilities

Set the direction of the University’s data repository ORA-Data and evaluate how ORA-Data and related offerings meet researchers’ needs in a sustainable way.Provide strategic leadership for specialist systems and services supporting research data management across the University.Take line management responsibility and actively engage with staff in cross-Bodleian and University matrix teams.Develop and implement policy and strategy related to open scholarship, research data management, and related areas.Engage with researchers to shape and support open data, reproducible research, and funder data requirements.Qualifications

Postgraduate level education with a track record of strategy and policy development.Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with academic and professional staff.Understanding of the scholarly communications landscape, both within the UK and globally.Experience in managing teams and leading cross-organisational initiatives.Application process
