A Bedfordshire Local Authority is seeking a proactive and compassionate Upstream Prevention Officer to join their Housing & Homelessness Service.

This role focuses on early intervention, working with individuals and households at risk of homelessness to prevent issues from escalating, with a strong emphasis on tenancy sustainment and partnership working.

  • Deliver an effective homelessness prevention, advice and support service to those at risk of losing their accommodation.
  • Work closely with internal departments and external partners (including landlords, support services and community organisations) to identify risks at the earliest stage.
  • Conduct outreach across community locations such as local libraries and Citizens Advice centres to identify individuals at risk of homelessness and provide early intervention support.
  • Manage a caseload of prevention cases, developing and progressing Personalised Housing Plans to achieve positive outcomes.

This role requires 4 days per week on-site to support effective partnership working, early intervention activity and case management.
