Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, teaching assistants or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain experience within secondary schools.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and maintaining a positive learning environment. No lesson planning or marking is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Ensure students remain on task and complete the work set.
- Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Report any issues relating to behaviour, safeguarding or attendance.
- Liaise effectively with teaching and support staff.
- Uphold the school''s expectations and professional standards at all times.
- Adapt confidently to different classroom settings and year groups.
Requirements
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent (degree desirable but not essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in leading groups of young people.
- Strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
- A flexible, professional and reliable approach.
- Experience working with children or young people is advantageous.
- An interest in education and supporting student development.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
