Role Overview:
We are seeking compassionate and experienced Teachers or Tutors to work with looked after children (LAC) across Sheffield. As a Tutor with The Education Network, you will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions to help children and young people who are in care. Your role will be to offer social and academic support, build confidence, develop social skills and help students overcome barriers to learning, ensuring they achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized tutoring in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science, as well as other subjects as required.
- Assess students'' learning needs and create tailored learning plans.
- Work closely with social workers, carers, and educational professionals to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies.
- Foster a positive learning environment and build strong, trusting relationships with students.
- Prepare students for exams and help them develop study skills and strategies.
- Report on student progress and provide feedback.
- Support students'' emotional well-being and personal development.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS / QTLS), PTTLS, or relevant tutoring experience with at least an MA or PHD in a similar role.
- Experience working with LAC or vulnerable young people is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
