OverviewWe are looking to recruit a full-time Clinical Fellow in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ST1/2). The post is fixed term for 12 months and will be based between the Royal London Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital as part of Barts Health NHS Trust. The posts are not formal training positions but there will be opportunities for professional development in academia and practical skills related to the specialty. It is essential that applicants possess experience in Oral Surgery or OMFS at DCT1, SHO or FY level. Expected duties will include running outpatient clinics with supervision, assisting in theatres and participating in the on-call rota; this includes weekday, weeknights and weekend nights. This post attracts a 1a (50%) on-call supplement.

Applicants should hold full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC).

Responsibilities

Run outpatient clinics with supervision

Assist in theatres and participate in the on-call rota (including weekday, weeknights and weekend nights)

Contribute to academic development and practical skills related to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Qualifications and Experience

BDS or equivalent and full registration with the General Dental Council (UK)

MJDF or equivalent

At least 1 year SHO level experience in OMFS/Oral Surgery

Evidence of delivery of an audit and/or quality improvement project

Desirable

Previous experience of clinical research

Previous experience of on-call working in OMFS/Oral Surgery

Knowledge and Skills

Confident diagnosing and treating patients with supervision

Aware of Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, Data Protection and Patient Care Legislations

Ability to communicate technical and medical information in lay terms to patients and MDT colleagues

High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a multidisciplinary team

Evidence of reflective practice
