Tree Inspector (Temp/Contract)

You will be joining a public sector organisation focused on environmental management, forestry services, and maintaining tree safety across public spaces.

Your new role
You will work as a Tree Inspector, carrying out regular tree inspections across highways and other sites, identifying risks, and producing technical reports to support remedial actions. You will liaise with landowners, update tree records and databases, issue work instructions to contractors, and assist with monitoring tree health issues such as ash dieback. The role also involves supporting emergency response, handling public enquiries, and contributing to wider forestry and arboricultural services.

What you''ll need to succeed

• Level 3 Forestry/Arboriculture qualification (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in tree inspections and assessing tree health, defects, and safety risks
• Knowledge of tree biology, pathogens, and modern arboricultural practices
• Understanding of relevant legislation, British Standards, and health & safety
• Ability to produce clear, detailed reports and technical documentation
• Good IT skills and experience using databases/GIS systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel and work flexibly
