Trauma Senior Clinical Fellowship in Orthopaedics

OverviewThis is a unique opportunity to apply for the post of Senior Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow at King’s College Hospital Major Trauma Centre. The Trauma and Orthopaedics department is one of the largest in the region and provides a range of elective and trauma services, with integrated teaching and research commitments.
ResponsibilitiesThe Fellow will be part of the Trauma Firm and will be involved predominantly in the management of trauma patients and the provision of care for all Orthopaedic Trauma cases. The post offers opportunities to develop operative skills in percutaneous pelvic/acetabular fracture fixation and in “Mini-max” complex periarticular fracture fixation surgery. All trauma subspecialties are available onsite including pelvic surgery, limb reconstruction, orthoplastics and complex periarticular fracture surgery. The Fellow may rotate between subspecialties (pelvic trauma, orthoplastics, periarticular) or pursue a complete trauma-pod pan-specialty fellowship. Allocation to subspecialties will depend on educational requirements.
The post will include integrated teaching and research commitments and supports development of operative skills with hands-on experience across the trauma spectrum. The trauma division is cross-site (The PRUH and Denmark Hill) with an elective facility at Orpington Hospital.
Roster and Training EnvironmentKing’s College Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre serving South East London, Kent and Medway (SELKAM) with 24-hour consultant presence and necessary resources for complex injuries. Trauma and Orthopaedics represents its own Care Group led by Clinical Director – Mr Abihnav Gulihar, with governance leads at each site and a Care Group General Manager. The regional Major Trauma Network has its own Clinical Director and meets in daily multi-disciplinary trauma rounds.
Division and LocationThe Division of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery operates across The PRUH and Denmark Hill, with an elect ive facility at Orpington Hospital, including four operating theatres and dedicated wards. Elective inpatient and some day-case work are carried out at Orpington.
