Senior Orthopaedic Trauma Fellow at King\''s College Hospital Major Trauma Centre. The trauma and orthopaedics service at Denmark Hill joined the Princess Royal University Hospital to create an integrated centre of excellence in the treatment of orthopaedics. The Trauma and Orthopaedics department is one of the largest in the region, serving a population of over 700,000, with 24 orthopaedic surgeons and a range of tertiary services. King\''s College Hospital is a Major Trauma Centre responsible for the SELKAM Trauma Network, providing 24/7 consultant coverage with the necessary resources for complex injuries. Elective inpatient and some day-case work is carried out at Orpington Hospital\''s Elective Orthopaedic Centre, which has three orthopaedic theatres, a recovery area and two elective orthopaedic wards.Responsibilities
The Fellow will be part of the Trauma Firm, predominantly involved in the management of trauma patients and care for all Orthopaedic Trauma cases. Onsite subspecialties include pelvic surgery, limb reconstruction, orthoplastics and complex periarticular fracture surgery. The post includes integrated teaching and research commitments. There are opportunities to develop operative skills in percutaneous pelvic/acetabular fracture fixation and in \"Mini-max\" complex periarticular fracture fixation. The Fellow may rotate between subspecialties (pelvic trauma, orthoplastics, periarticular) and/or undertake a trauma-pod pan-specialty fellowship. Allocation to subspecialties depends on the educational requirements of the Fellows. The post is based at Denmark Hill and will be reviewed after 3 months. The Trust structure includes divisions for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery (cross-site, including The PRUH and Denmark Hill) and an elective facility at Orpington Hospital with four operating theatres, a dedicated admissions ward and a post-operative ward. The Care Group is led by Clinical Director, with clinical leads at Denmark Hill and Princess Royal sites, and governance leads at each site. The Care Group General Manager and Head of Nursing provide senior leadership, and the Trust\''s Major Trauma Network has its own Clinical Director with daily trauma clinical meetings and weekly reviews.Qualifications and requirements
