We're looking for an experienced Transport Shift Manager to take ownership of a fast-paced domestic road freight operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a transport professional who thrives on making operational decisions, balancing resources, and ensuring exceptional service while maintaining strict compliance.
You'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring customer commitments are met safely, efficiently, and at the best possible cost. Working within a complex network, you'll coordinate workload across own fleet, domestic partners, subcontractors, and third-party suppliers, making real-time decisions that maximise service, utilisation, and profitability.
A strong understanding of Collection & Delivery (C&D) operations is essential. You'll know how to manage changing priorities, respond quickly to operational challenges, and keep freight moving while maintaining high service standards.
Compliance is at the heart of the role. You'll have a thorough knowledge of Drivers' Hours regulations and the Working Time Directive (WTD), ensuring all transport activities are planned and managed within legislative requirements. You'll also promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the shift.
What you'll bring:

Hours of work: 1100-1930 Monday to Friday
Salary: Circa £44k DOE (equivalent to £21.15 per hour)
