Transport Planning Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planning Engineer to join a leading transport planning and infrastructure consultancy. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects that focus on sustainable travel, healthy streets, junction design, and transport modelling - all within a supportive, collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Transport Planning Engineer, you will:
- Design highway junctions including right-turn lanes, roundabouts, and signal-controlled junctions.
- Review and assess site layouts to ensure safe and efficient access and movement.
- Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and planning submission documents.
- Undertake traffic modelling using Junctions 10 (ARCADY & PICADY), with LinSig experience desirable.
- Use TRICS and TEMPro to assess trip generation and growth forecasts.
- Produce traffic flow diagrams and undertake AutoCAD-based swept path analysis.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
- Review technical work from junior staff and provide guidance and mentoring.
About You
You will have:
- Experience in transport planning and infrastructure design within a consultancy or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of Manual for Streets and Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoTracks.
- Ideally, experience with TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions 10, LinSig, and GiS.
- Understanding of relevant planning policies (e.g., NPPF, DfT guidance).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
