Transport Planning Consultant / Assistant Consultant - Business Case Advisory at WSP in the UK and Ireland. This role supports the Business Case Advisory team within the Mobility Planning division. The team is virtual, with some office presence in Cambridge, Exeter or London preferred.Responsibilities
Make the case for investment in proposed transport and/or land-use schemes by understanding the rationale to do soDevelop objectives in the context of relevant policy and identified problems and opportunitiesDevelop the evidence to support informed choices by clients and fundersDevelop and apply Multi-Criteria Assessment Frameworks to ensure robust optioneeringCreate economic and financial appraisal frameworks consistent with HM Treasury and DfT guidanceProvide analytical and appraisal expertise to colleagues across WSPWork collaboratively with colleagues and clients to assemble information and clearly communicate analytical findingsSupport the preparation of bids, fee proposals and project programmesUndertake management of projects as PM/Deputy PMContribute to team meetings through knowledge shares and general engagementAct as a buddy, have a mentorPursue professional qualificationsAlongside the Technical Elements, There Will Be Opportunities To

Interest in developing transport solutions to everyday environmental, economic and social challengesExperience in undertaking transport analysis in a structured manner aligned with relevant guidance and identifying implications of findingsStrong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in teams and clearly present informationWillingness to understand and apply funding bodies’ business case guidance (Green Book, DfT, Transport Scotland) and related appraisal requirementsConfidence to take on responsibility and ownership of tasks, and to seek guidance when requiredAbility to work flexibly on multiple projects and meet competing deadlinesAwareness of the commercial environment and the need to deliver against quality, time and budgetDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
