Transport Planner

Pertemps Stoke are currently recruiting a Transport Planner to join our client’s team in the Stoke-on-Trent area. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing the planning and timely delivery of orders to their customers. Your role will ensure the efficient use and coordination of all our driver and fleet resources, ensuring optimal service levels.

Key Responsibilities of this Transport Planner role:

• Daily route planning to optimise delivery schedules
• Maximising vehicle capacity and minimising empty running
• Addressing any vehicle defects or issues
• Communicating collection times/delays to customers via email
• Coordinating and booking deliveries
• Providing excellent customer service at all times
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships both internally and externally
• Debriefing drivers on their return
• Managing time effectively to ensure tasks are completed within the set time frames

Required Skills for this Transport Planner role:

• Strong communication skills
• A solid understanding of compliance in the transport industry
• Ability to foster positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
• IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Previous experience in an operational role within logistics or haulage would be an advantage
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
• Strong analytical and planning skills
• Experience planning multiple delivery schedules is desirable
• Self-motivation with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
• Excellent telephone manner

Details of this Transport Planner role:

• 12:00pm – 9:00pm (Monday to Friday)
• 1 in 3 Saturdays: 8:00am – 11:00am
• Hourly rate: £12.00-£14.25
• Permanent role
• Location: Stoke-on-Trent
