Manpower is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Transport Planner to join a busy transport operation in Peterborough.

You will be responsible for planning and scheduling transport operations, optimising vehicle utilisation, coordinating with drivers and hauliers, and ensuring outstanding customer service while meeting operational KPIs and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimise driver schedules and vehicle loads.
  • Arrange third-party haulier support through the spot market when required.
  • Ensure daily delivery targets and cost-per-load KPIs are achieved.
  • Resolve transport, customer, and driver-related issues quickly and effectively.
  • Minimise empty running and improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyse reports and planning data to identify improvements.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers, drivers, sales teams, and transport coordinators.
  • Provide updates on deliveries, delays, and service issues.

About You

Essential:

  • Previous transport planning experience.
  • Knowledge of transport legislation and the Working Time Directive.
  • Experience using routing and scheduling systems.
  • Strong IT, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts between 6am and 6pm.

Desirable:

  • CPC qualification.
  • Transport management experience.
