(Transport Planner) - Position Overview
Our client is a well-established, nationwide haulage company operating from a network of eight depots across the UK. Founded in the 1960s, they remain a proud, family-run business with a strong reputation for reliability, professionalism, and service. Their modern fleet of vehicles and trailers is supported by a dedicated, experienced team.
They are now looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join us; someone who can make an immediate, positive impact both operationally and within the team culture.
(Transport Planner) - Position Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule loads to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries.
- Manage return loads to maximise efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee driver performance and compliance with working time and driver hours regulations.
- Coordinate vehicle and trailer maintenance in line with schedules.
- Accurately update traffic system in real-time.
- Collaborate with the transport team and attend operational reviews.
- Build a strong understanding of the wider transport network to support group-wide efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement across all planning and operational processes.
- Uphold and develop Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through reliable, responsive service.

- Proven experience in the transport or logistics industry
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage and support your driver team
- A detail-oriented problem solver with excellent time management
- A proactive team player with a flexible, hands-on approach
- Motivated and committed to driving operational success
- Commercial awareness, with a focus on KPIs, cost control, and vehicle profitability
(Transport Planner) - Position Remuneration:
- Salary - -30,000 - -36,000
- Monday to Friday, 7am - 4/ 5pm (TBC)
- 20 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
Death in Service - Bonus scheme (To be discussed with the company)
