Location: Dover
Hours: Full-time (12-month maternity cover)
Salary: Highly competitive, dependent on experience

The Role


As a Transport Planner, you will take responsibility for the effective and cost-efficient planning of vehicles, ensuring legal compliance and meeting customer requirements. This role requires a proactive and organised individual capable of managing daily operations and maintaining strong communication across multiple stakeholders.

 

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan vehicle schedules, taking into account load factors, customer opening hours, driver hours, and legal requirements.
  • Manage Profit & Loss within your area of control.
  • Supervise daily operations to ensure collections and deliveries are executed as planned.
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with office staff, customers, subcontractors, and drivers.
  • Use your initiative to make informed decisions within your remit.
  • Undertake administration and commercial representation duties.
  • Provide support across other areas of the business as required.

 

What Our Client Is Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in haulage or freight forwarding.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fleet and driver management, scheduling/planning, WTD, and tachographs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • In-depth knowledge and application of health and safety procedures.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to complete key tasks on time.
  • Strong communication and arithmetic skills.
  • A team player who is also confident in working autonomously.
  • Ability to adapt to fluid targets and deadlines with a proactive mindset.
