Transport Network Support Manager

Transport Network Support Manager – National Logistics Business
Location: Midlands with UK travel (Midlands, North West, some Southern travel required and stays away from home)
Salary: Excellent salary + car allowance / car + benefits
Are you an experienced transport management professional looking for your next challenge?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, successful logistics business in a key customer-facing role. Acting as the link between senior leadership, the transport operation, and a well-known retail customer, you’ll play a pivotal part in ensuring safety, service excellence, cost efficiency, financial performance, and continuous improvement across a high-profile distribution contract.
The Role:
You’ll be responsible for driving operational performance and compliance while building strong relationships with both internal teams and the customer. This is a role with real variety and scope — covering safety, cost control and financial performance, driver engagement and development, and leading improvement projects (including some system-related initiatives). A core part of your role will be giving the customer confidence that their transport and distribution operations are in safe hands and working hard to deliver.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring full legal and safety compliance across the transport operation.
- Promoting a culture of safety and accountability across drivers, managers, and depots.
- Leading driver engagement, training, and development programmes.
- Partnering with customer and internal stakeholders to improve service and find solutions.
- Managing costs, budgets, and P&L to ensure value is delivered without compromising service.
- Leading continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
About You:
We’re looking for a seasoned transport management professional who can demonstrate:
- A proven track record of managing large, complex transport operations – ideally multi-location.
- National CPC / CPC for Transport Managers.
- Strong leadership skills with experience of managing people effectively, coaching, and motivating teams.
- Commercial acumen, including experience managing P&L and driving financial accountability.
- Hands-on experience with Transport Management Systems and related applications (planning, maintenance, tachographs).
- The ability to influence and build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- A track record of delivering process improvements and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
- Flexibility and mobility to travel extensively (Midlands, North West, and some Southern sites, with overnight stays).
It would also be advantageous if you’ve managed multi-customer operations or worked within central transport functions, delivering innovation and scalable solutions.
What’s on Offer:
This is a visible, high-impact role where you’ll have the scope to make a real difference — both to the operation and to the customer. In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary package, company car, and benefits, along with the opportunity to be part of a successful, forward-thinking logistics business with ambitious growth plans.
