The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced and driven Transport Manager to lead a large-scale night shift operation based in Coventry. This is a senior leadership role overseeing a complex, fast-paced transport function, ensuring the smooth running of overnight operations that are critical to business performance.

You will be responsible for leading a team of Operations Managers, Shift Managers, and over 100 drivers, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high service levels across the board.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full night shift transport operation
• Oversee a management team including Ops Managers and Shift Managers
• Manage and support a driver workforce of 100+ drivers
• Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations and Operator Licence requirements
• Drive operational efficiency, route planning, and on-time performance
• Monitor KPIs, fleet utilisation, and service delivery standards
• Take ownership of incident management and operational decision-making
• Work closely with senior leadership to deliver continuous improvement
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and compliance

About You

• Proven experience in a Transport Manager or senior transport leadership role
• Strong background managing large teams in a fast-paced environment
• CPC qualified (essential)
• In-depth knowledge of DVSA compliance and Operator Licence requirements
• Confident decision-maker with the ability to lead during high-pressure situations
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Experience in multi-drop, logistics, or high-volume operations preferred
