Transport / Operations Manager

Location: Orpington

Salary: 45/50k

Reports to: Managing Director

We are seeking an experienced Transport / Operations Manager to join our senior management team. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective distribution of goods to our customers.

You will play a central role in managing transport operations and lead the team to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service. You must have experience of managing a fleet of 15/20 vehicles across South / South East / East England.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee fleet compliance, ensuring adherence to all relevant legislation (including O Licence and FORS requirements)

Lead and manage transport operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods

Lead, motivate, and develop teams to deliver excellent service

Monitor and continuously improve operational performance across depots

Investigate and resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively

Work closely with depot managers and internal teams to meet customer expectations

Use IT systems and data to drive efficiency and continuous improvement

Prepare regular performance reports for senior leadership

Ensure high standards of health & safety are maintained at all times

About You

Proven experience in transport and operations management

Strong understanding of fleet compliance and UK transport regulations (O Licence /FORS essential)

Excellent leadership and team management skills

Highly organised with strong problem-solving abilities

Commercially aware with a focus on cost control and efficiency

Confident communicator, able to build strong working relationships

Experience managing multi-site or depot operations is desirable
