We are currently recruiting for a Transport Clerk to join a busy transport office based in Wakefield. This is a fast-paced role supporting daily transport operations within a drinks logistics environment.
The successful candidate will be organised, reliable, and confident working in a busy operational setting. The ability to work independently and make decisions when required is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Booking out drivers at the start of shift and issuing driver packs, including delivery notes and run sheets generated from the ESP system
- Monitoring driver progress throughout the day, recording any delays or issues, and communicating updates to Customer Services to ensure customers are kept informed
- Logging vehicle and trailer defects and reporting these to maintenance providers, ensuring the Axcend system is accurately updated
- Completing driver debriefs on return using the ESP system and ensuring all paperwork, including PODs, is correctly processed and filed
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience within transport, logistics, or a similar fast-paced operational environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with drivers and internal departments
- Able to work using own initiative and manage workload effectively
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Basic IT skills; experience using ESP or similar transport management systems is advantageous
