Trading Standards Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Trading Standards Officer to join Safer Wirral Services. The role involves carrying out complex Trading Standards enforcement activity, leading investigations and projects, and supporting the delivery of effective regulatory services. You will work with a high level of autonomy, using your professional expertise to make enforcement decisions, resolve complex issues and represent the Council with internal and external partners. Location: Birkenhead, Merseyside, CH412YA. Rate: £30.00 per hour (PAYE) Contract: 3 months+ Hours: 36 hours per week Start: ASAP Key Duties and Responsibilities: Undertake and/or supervise complex inspections, investigations and projects to secure business compliance with Trading Standards legislation Identify legal contraventions and select and implement appropriate enforcement action, from informal advice through to formal legal proceedings Prepare reports, undertake correspondence, conduct interviews, compile case files and brief Legal Services, including giving evidence in Court when required Provide specialist advice and guidance to businesses, members of the public and colleagues on Trading Standards matters Work collaboratively with Council departments and external partners including Police, Fire Service, other Local Authorities and the Food Standards Agency Represent the Trading Standards Service at meetings, regional initiatives, projects and partnership forums Provide guidance, mentoring and specialist ..... full job details .....
