Shift Pattern & Salary scale based on experience:

2 Shift (with a Saturday morning)
Mon to Fri Days/Lates (Apply online only)/ (Apply online only) & (Sat every 2nd wk (Apply online only) with a 2100 finish on the Friday night before) - -45,431.26 to -52,246.01

OR

Rotational Shift - 4 on 4 off 12hr shifts 2days/2nights (Apply online only)/(Apply online only) - -52,870.83 to -60,801.35

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Toolroom Engineer to join our manufacturing team. Working within a busy injection moulding environment, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, repair, modification and continuous improvement of injection mould tools and hot runner systems.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring mould tools operate at maximum efficiency, minimising downtime and supporting uninterrupted production to meet customer demand.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with strong toolmaking, machining and fault-finding skills who enjoys working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out preventative maintenance, cleaning, servicing and repair of injection mould tools.
Perform mould conversions to produce different cap variants.
Set jacks on mould plates and undertake de-tipping of fixed mould halves.
Conduct safety inspections and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
Machine components using conventional and CNC milling, turning and grinding equipment.
Polish damaged or worn mould components to restore product quality standards.
Undertake TIG welding repairs on moulds, cavities, tooling components and ancillary equipment.
Manufacture and modify components for injection mould tools and associated equipment.
Inspect and measure components using CMM equipment, micrometres, callipers, slip gauges, microscopes and other precision measuring instruments.
Diagnose tooling faults and identify root causes of recurring issues.
Service and maintain hot runner systems, including heaters, manifolds, thermocouples, valve gates and control loops.
Test electrical systems, resistances and voltages to ensure tools are functioning correctly.
Carry out tool rewiring as required.
Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, replacing seals and components where necessary.
Inspect cooling systems and identify leaks or flow restrictions.
Service rotating core systems, guide bushes, bearings and hydraulic cylinders.
Repair EFI cabinets and perform online diagnostic testing on tools running in production presses.
Design and manufacture jigs and fixtures to assist with tooling repairs and continuous improvement activities.
Complete tooling evaluations and maintenance reports to assist with forecasting maintenance costs.
Ensure all SOPs, maintenance records and tooling documentation are accurate and up to date.
Participate in tool trials and new tooling introductions with external toolmakers and suppliers.
Support the Toolroom Manager and Toolroom Team Leader with additional engineering activities as required.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

Ideally a apprentice trained Toolmaker, Toolroom Engineer or similar engineering qualification.
Experience working within an injection moulding manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of injection mould tools and hot runner systems.
Competent in milling, turning, grinding and precision fitting techniques.
Experience using CNC machinery.
Proven TIG welding experience.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
Skilled in the use of precision measuring equipment.
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
Experience with mould flow and tooling modifications.
Familiarity with EFI control systems.
Experience attending tooling trials and supporting new product introductions.
Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
