Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm, Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm. Responsibilities of the Toolmaker - Pattern Maker To produce a pattern/model of the required part out of a variety of materials, working from technical drawings, plastic or plywood templates or from existing foam samples. Produce a mould using wet lay or cast resin method. Carry out welding to finish mould as and when required. Fit pins, frames or other components into the mould when needed and finish the mould by hand polishing, ready for production. Apply paint or sealants where necessary. Repair moulds either in place on the track or in the workshop as required. Where Production experiences problems, to diagnose the cause of the problem and make the necessary alterations to rectify the problem.
