The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tool Room Technician to join an established manufacturing business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of plastic injection mould tooling, ensuring tools are maintained to a high standard and are ready for production when required.

This is a hands-on role involving planned preventative maintenance, fault finding, cleaning, inspection and component replacement, working closely with Production and Toolroom teams to ensure tooling remains reliable and production downtime is minimised.

The role would suit someone with a background in injection mould tooling, toolmaking, mechanical fitting or a similar manufacturing environment who enjoys practical, hands-on work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on plastic injection mould tools.
  • Strip down, clean, inspect and service moulds and associated components.
  • Identify worn, damaged or defective tooling components and recommend appropriate action.
  • Complete routine tooling repairs and replace components where required.
  • Maintain mould bases, bolsters and associated tooling equipment.
  • Prepare tooling and spare components for production requirements.
  • Ensure moulds are cleaned, serviced and fully operational before being returned to production.
  • Respond to tooling issues and support reactive maintenance when required.
  • Diagnose recurring tooling issues and highlight potential improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, faults and component replacements.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining planned maintenance schedules based on tooling usage.
  • Work closely with Production and Toolroom teams to prioritise maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure tooling and maintenance equipment are kept clean, organised and in good condition.
  • Follow company procedures, quality requirements and health & safety standards at all times.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties in support of the manufacturing operation.

The Candidate
Previous experience working with injection mould tools or similar mechanical tooling.

Strong mechanical fitting and assembly skills.

Previous experience within a plastic injection moulding would be desirable

The ability to confidently strip, inspect and rebuild tooling.

Good understanding of mould construction and associated components.

Experience identifying wear, damage and potential tooling faults.

Ability to use a range of standard workshop tools and equipment.

Basic machining experience.
