Salary: £14.85 per hour + 6.5% Shift Allowance
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift Pattern: Rotating Days
- Week 1: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 4:00pm
- Week 2: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Our client, a well-established and respected manufacturing business, is looking to recruit a skilled Machine Tool Engineer to join their Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer with a strong mechanical background to play a key role in improving plant reliability, reducing downtime and supporting continuous improvement across a busy production facility.
Working within a proactive maintenance environment, you''ll carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on a range of manufacturing machinery, plant and equipment while contributing to the ongoing development of the site''s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on manufacturing plant, machinery and building infrastructure.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults to minimise production downtime.
- Improve machine reliability through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the implementation, updating and effective use of the CMMS.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
- Install, commission and service machinery and equipment.
- Assemble and fit machine components to engineering drawings.
- Liaise effectively with production teams, engineers, fitters and management.
- Monitor component quality and delivery to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain tools and equipment to company quality and safety standards.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures.
- Assist with the training and development of apprentices.
- Support quality improvement activities to reduce waste, defects and downtime.
- Undertake additional engineering duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you''ll ideally have:
- NVQ Level 3, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent Engineering qualification.
- Time-served apprenticeship within Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Previous experience working on heavy plant or industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Knowledge of CMMS maintenance systems.
- Welding experience would be advantageous.
- Experience operating overhead cranes.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) experience or licence is desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- £14.85 per hour.
