Tool Designer - Detail Parts

Our client, a leading player in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Tool Designer - Detail Parts to join their team on a contract basis. This role involves the detail tool design from concept development through to the issuance for detail products and assembly of airframe-related parts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detail tool designs from concept to issuance for airframe-related parts
• Collaborate with multiple teams across different engineering disciplines, including design, toolroom, and process development teams, as well as external suppliers
• Generate solutions for complex problems from concept through to actualisation
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing accurately in tool designs
• Ensure compliance with external and internal company standards governing tooling activities

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience in detail tool design processes, preferably within the air sector
• Proficiency in the use of CATIA V5
• Thorough understanding of interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Knowledge of internal company systems such as SAPCAMS & PLM is desirable
• Comfortable working in an early lifecycle programme environment with inherent uncertainties and volatility
