Thermal Plant Operator

Location: HG5
Pay Rate: -24.46 per hour
Permanent Equivalent Salary: -46,778.70
Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Thermal Plant Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of a busy Energy from Waste (EfW) facility based at Allerton Waste Recovery Park.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience operating thermal plant, boiler systems, combustion processes, or Energy from Waste facilities within a heavy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring day-to-day compliance with Environmental Permit requirements
• Reporting and escalating any incidents or non-compliance issues
• Following all Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures
• Supporting site HSE initiatives and operational improvements
• Working closely with Maintenance Teams to maximise plant performance
• Coaching and supporting new team members on operational procedures and compliance
• Maintaining accurate operational records, maintenance requests, and shift handovers
• Supporting plant operations during steady state, start-up, shutdown, and emergency situations

Shift Pattern:
2 Days / 3 Nights / 4 Off / 3 Days / 2 Nights / 5 Off / 2 Days / 2 Nights / 12 Off

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience operating within an Energy from Waste facility or similar heavy process environment
• Experience with combustion and boiler operations
• Strong analytical, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively within a shift-based operational team
• Strong communication and technical knowledge sharing skills
• WAMITAB Level 4 Operator Competence is desirable
