We are seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer with a proven background in metal cladding systems to join a large client project based in Cambridge.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thermal modelling, U-value, and condensation risk assessments for metal cladding and fa-ade systems.
- Provide technical expertise on insulation, thermal bridging, and airtightness in relation to cladding.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and project teams to ensure cladding systems meet thermal and regulatory standards.
- Advise on materials, detailing, and system design to optimise thermal efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and compliance documentation.
- Support site teams with thermal performance queries during installation stages.
Requirements
- Strong experience as a Thermal Engineer within the metal cladding and fa-ade sector.
- In-depth knowledge of building physics, heat transfer, and thermal bridging in building envelopes.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. Part L, Approved Document B, CWCT guidance).
- Proficiency in thermal modelling software (e.g. THERM, Psi-Therm, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical details to non-specialists.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Physics, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
