Test Technician – Brake Dyno
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Test Technician to join our high-performing team at a state-of-the-art Engineering Test Facility. This is a hands-on, technical role where you’ll be instrumental in preparing, installing, and testing a range of prototype components and systems across various engineering programmes.
You’ll play a key part in delivering reliable, accurate test data to support critical decisions across departments including durability, emissions, certification, and performance. Key Responsibilities
· Preparation, instrumentation and installation of Units Under Test (UUTs) for a variety of rig-based test activities
· Operation of test cells in both manual and automated modes using systems such as AVL Puma 2.0
· Carrying out dimensional checks and logging of accurate test data
· Performing servicing and minor repairs on test items during development
· Ensuring health and safety standards are followed at all times
· Supporting the wider team with rig setup, troubleshooting and facility maintenance
Required Skills & Experience
Essential:
· NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Motor Vehicle Engineering
· Functional skills Level 2 (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science
· Experience working in a technical test or development environment
· Strong understanding of mechanical systems and testing principles
· Competent using standard PC applications (e.g. Excel, Word)
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
Desirable:
· Experience using AVL Puma, iGEM, Concerto, or other test cell software
· Understanding of emissions or powertrain testing
· Familiarity with COSHH, H&S practices, and safe workshop operations
· Experience with prototype builds and instrumentation
· Crane operation or lifting & slinging certification
· Full UK driving licence
