Placr Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Test, Service & Installation Engineer to join a specialist engineering business based in Storrington, West Sussex.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys fault-finding, testing and solving technical problems. You''ll work with highly specialised engineering equipment, taking projects from factory testing and commissioning through to installation and final acceptance at customer sites.

The position offers plenty of variety, combining work at the company''s West Sussex facility with regular travel throughout the UK and internationally. Overseas assignments can typically last for up to three weeks at a time.

You don''t necessarily need experience within this exact industry. We''re interested in engineers from field service, medical equipment, scientific instrumentation, industrial machinery, automation, aerospace, laboratory equipment, special-purpose machinery and other electro-mechanical environments.

The Role

As a Test, Service & Installation Engineer, you''ll test and commission complex engineering equipment before supporting its installation at customer sites.

You''ll carry out Factory Acceptance Testing, diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation, and work closely with design, production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.

You''ll also support customer acceptance testing, technical demonstrations and final equipment handovers while ensuring projects are completed to high standards of quality and safety.

The position requires someone comfortable using electrical test equipment alongside a range of hand and power tools and who enjoys getting directly involved in solving engineering problems.

About You

You''ll ideally have an engineering qualification or equivalent hands-on industry experience alongside previous experience within testing, servicing, maintenance, installation or commissioning.

You''ll need strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills and the ability to understand engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.

You''ll be practical, technically minded and confident working independently while also contributing to a wider engineering team.

Good communication skills are important as you''ll regularly interact with customers and other engineering professionals.

Most importantly, you''ll need to be willing and able to travel internationally and stay away from home when projects require it.

Desirable Experience

Previous exposure to vacuum or high-vacuum systems, cryogenics, helium leak testing, MRI equipment, superconducting magnets, scientific equipment or precision engineering would be particularly advantageous.

However, this specialist experience isn''t essential, and candidates with strong transferable electro-mechanical engineering skills are encouraged to apply.
