Test Engineer

A Test Engineer opportunity has arisen within a well-established engineering and manufacturing business developing specialist machinery for customers across a range of sectors.

Working within a dedicated development cell, you''ll build and test prototype machinery, set up validation programmes, collect and analyse test data and support the transition of new products into production. This is a practical position combining mechanical assembly, testing and technical reporting rather than a purely design-based role.

Test Engineer responsibilities include -

• Building prototype machinery, assemblies, test equipment, jigs and fixtures.
• Setting up and completing mechanical test and validation programmes.
• Collecting and analysing test data before producing clear technical reports.
• Investigating existing products and recommending engineering changes following customer, supplier, or internal issues.
• Machining or modifying development components when required.
• Working with Design, Manufacturing and Quality to move new products from prototype into production.

Test Engineer desirable skills and experience -

• Previous experience as a Test Engineer, Development Engineer, R&D Technician or similar.
• Hands-on mechanical assembly, fitting, test rig or machinery-building experience.
• Experience working with complex special-purpose or rotating machinery, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Confident collecting and analysing test data.
• Experience reading engineering drawings or using machining and welding equipment would be advantageous.
