No……………………………………………………………………………………………………………PURPOSE OF THE JOBTo provide technical support the Temporary Works (TW) department, assisting the Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) in the design, supervision, checking and administration of the temporary works.ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIESDesign (and check) small to medium complexity TW items.Manage the design process where work is outsourced.Advise the construction team on suitable temporary works for site.Provide technical support to the construction team throughout the construction phase (including shafts and tunnels),Ensure designs are implemented in accordance with the drawings and specification.Ensure the TW procedure is implemented on site.Produce and update TW documents and issue to the relevant people.Support the TWC with the following:Identify, develop and plan for the TW, in accordance with the Permanent Works programme. Keep an updated record of them in the “Temporary Works Register” and submit it every 4 weeks to LUL as contract requirement (to include in the register any drawings, calculations and other relevant documents relating to the final design)Keep an updated file of all the documents produced and manage the distribution of them to all the interested parts (to include LUL submittals and those responsible for on-site works),Record and monitoring any agreed changes in materials or construction and corrections of faults,To ensure the independence of checks, where require, have been carried out.Permit work to proceed subject to the permit to load procedure.To ensure that once the temporary works has been checked and passed, it is not altered until the loading stage has been completed, and the design allows for it to be dismantled or altered (checking critical individual items),Ensure that the temporary works are dismantled in accordance with a defined procedure.Co-operatein all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.Act as a role model for vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with Ways of Working. Encourage and support others to do so tooPromote equality in the workplace and adopt appropriate behaviour when interacting with colleaguesTake necessary care to properly protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information from unauthorised disclosure, modification or destruction. Never knowingly put information or information systems at riskSPECIFIC SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIESTo comply with sections 7 and 8 of the Health and Safety at Work Act, i.e.To take reasonable care for the safety of themselves and of any other person who may be affected by what they do or fail to do at workTo co-operate with their employers or any other persons in the performance of theirstatutory dutiesNot to misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interests of health, safety orwelfareAlso, to comply with the requirements of HandS Policy and co-operate in efforts to prevent accidents and ill health.In particular:Read and comply with the location rules.Behave in a responsible manner at all times.Develop and demonstrate a personal concern for the health and safety of themselvesand others.Consider at the design stage and subsequently as any work precede any hazardous activities are avoid or reduce and ensure that an appropriate safe system is defined by risk assessment.Verify that procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented.Where appropriate, ensure that the Temporary Works design is made available to other interested parties (for example the Principal Designer under CDM).Report all accidents, incidents and near misses to their line manager or healthand safety manager as appropriate.Report damage to plant and equipment to their immediate line manager.Use only that plant and equipment for which they have received training and authorisation.Use and look after the protective equipment provided and report to their line manager when it becomes worn or defective.Ensure that any personal injuries are recorded in the accident book.Propose to their line manager ways of eliminating hazards and improvingsafety at their workplace.Attend health surveillance when instructed.Set a personal example of safe behaviour.EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS and TRAININGHold a Degree / HND in civil/ structural engineering3-4 years previous relevant experience. Preferably in a contractors’ TW design office.Geotechnical experience beneficial.Previous experience of managing a busy workload of small to medium complexity items which are undertaken in-house.Experienced in NCE3 form of contract and Project Technical Request.Understanding of managing costs, budgets and economic planning.Understanding of programmes and assisting the project run on schedule.Experience on site, monitoring, dealing with subcontractors and finding solutions to problems that may cause delays or extra costs.Ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including Clients, professional engineers, construction managers, site operatives and statutory authorities.Knowledge of the development and implementation of quality management.Apply For This Job
