Temporary Works Design Checker

A leading Civil Engineering Contractor is looking for an experienced Temporary Works Design Checker to join their growing Design Team in Leeds. You will play a key role in reviewing and verifying temporary works designs for major tunnelling, shafts, and civil engineering projects across the UK.

This role is all about technical assurance - making sure designs are safe, compliant, and buildable, while supporting site teams and engineers with expert guidance.

Temporary Works Design Checker Job Overview

• Independently review and check temporary works designs prepared by in-house design engineers
• Ensure compliance with design codes, standards, and client requirements
• Assess buildability, practicality, and safety of proposals
• Work closely with Temporary Works Coordinators and site teams to provide advice and support
• Maintain clear records of checks and give constructive feedback to engineers
• Help drive continuous improvement in design processes and standards

Temporary Works Design Checker Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (essential)
• Chartered Engineer (ICE / IStructE / equivalent) preferred
• 10+ years'' experience including strong site-based temporary works exposure
• In-depth knowledge of design codes, CDM regulations, and British Standards
• Able to carry out Category 2 & 3 checks with confidence
• Strong communicator, able to collaborate across design and delivery teams
• UK Driving Licence
• Happy with 5 days a week in the office
