Our client, based in South Cambridge, is looking for a temporary Contracts Officer; initially this role is for 3 months. This is a full-time position (37hrs per week) and for at least the first month, the role will be office based. Once all training has taken place, there is flexibility for the role to be hybrid (min 60% office based). Due to the rural location, candidates will need to have their own transport to get to work.
The contracts officer will work with both new and existing clients and suppliers; supporting internal initiatives and colleagues across the business on contractual matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating confidentiality agreements, supplier agreements and statement of works.
- Reviewing and negotiating statement of works and intellectual property assignments.
- Managing contracts through review, approval and record-keeping processes.
- Supporting colleagues across the business on contractual processes and requirements.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to current processes and ways of working.
- Providing commercial and contractual support on a variety of business projects.
To be suitable for this role, candidates will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in a contracts, commercial, legal administration or similar role.
- Experience drafting, reviewing or administering commercial agreements such as confidentiality agreements, supplier contracts and statement of works.
- A degree in law, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience gained in a contracts, commercial or legal environment.
- A robust understanding of contract law and commercial risk.
- Good organisational skills to manage and maintain documentations; and to co-ordinate both internal and external efforts.
- Excellent administrative skills to manage and maintain documentation.
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience of the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
- -The ability to work independently whilst aware of own limitations and knows when to seek advice or escalate issues.
- Confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and colleagues, both internally and externally.
- Calm and firm negotiator.
- A practical, collaborative approach and willingness to get involved wherever support is needed.
