Are you passionate about helping people move on from homelessness into safe, settled accommodation? We''re looking for a motivated and compassionate Temporary Accommodation Officer to join a busy and committed South London local authority. This is a vital role where you''ll help individuals and families move from temporary accommodation into sustainable long-term housing, making a direct impact on lives across the borough.Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of households ready to move on, assessing their needs, identifying suitable housing options, and supporting them to take the necessary steps to successfully settle into their new home.Work closely with Lettings Negotiators and a range of internal and external partners to ensure accommodation is used efficiently and that clients are fully supported throughout their housing journey.Match households with appropriate (legally defined) settled accommodationProvide tailored housing advice and prepare households for tenancyUpdate housing needs assessments and case recordsLiaise with other council teams, social care, and support servicesIssue discharge notices and manage tenancy-related communicationsUndertake home/property visits as requiredPromote independence, community integration, and tenancy sustainabilityWhat you’ll bring
Solid understanding of housing and homelessness legislationExperience working with vulnerable households in a housing or homelessness settingA good grasp of the barriers people face when moving on from temporary accommodationStrong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skillsA proactive and person-centred approachHow to Apply
