Our activities include funding call management, contract management and Intellectual Property management. We work with senior level stakeholders in academia, the NHS, government and industry to promote improvements in medical and health care in the UK and overseas.
Job DescriptionJob PurposeTo manage a portfolio of intellectual property and commercialisation activities and work closely with colleagues, researchers and officials to support:
Commercialisation of intellectual property assets
Promote industrial engagement by researchers
Support management of a reagents portfolio
Key Activities
Manage agreed projects relating to IP management and commercialisation resulting from research institutions
Attend sites in London, Cambridge and Harwell to provide face-to-face support to researchers (weekly or as needed)
Work with legal and patent subcontractors to resolve IP and commercialisation cases
Gather data and provide analysis to support development of simple business cases for IP commercialisation
Facilitate and deliver core training for researchers on IP and Commercialisation
Work with internal and external legal advice to review collaboration agreement issues
Ensure appropriate management of IP for specific cases, working with patent agents when appropriate
Support other team members with technology transfer activities
Support promotion of industrial partnerships as required
Support management of the reagents portfolio as required
Support provision of entrepreneurial training as required
Support due diligence review of applications to funding schemes for IP and commercialisation issues
Support researcher applications to other funders for IP and commercialisation issues
QualificationsRequired Criteria
Degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in life sciences
Significant experience in a technology transfer role to commercialise complex IP and patent portfolios
Experience in commercialisation of IP in the medical and life sciences area
Significant experience negotiating commercialisation licences and spin-out creation with a wide range of end users
Experience working with industry, researchers and government to identify mutually beneficial outcomes for IP commercialisation
Ability to communicate complex information regarding IP and commercialisation to diverse audiences
Desired Criteria
Experience in a customer-facing service role with multiple active projects
Experience working with external legal counsel and patent agents to protect IP assets
Experience delivering IP-related training to scientists
Experience reviewing research funding applications and performing due diligence checks
Compensation, Benefits and Working Arrangements
Salary: £48,600 pa
Location: Victoria, London / Hybrid working model
Contract Type: Full Time, 12 month FTC (maternity cover)
Working Hours: 7.5 hours per day
Annual Leave: 25 days, plus UK public holidays

Additional InformationPlease note:
This is a hybrid, office-based role with an expectation for all employees to attend our Victoria, London office, typically one day every week. This requirement may increase in line with business needs. The role will also require occasional travel to customer sites in Cambridge, London, and Oxfordshire.
