Technical Support Operative
Location: Buxton
Salary: -13.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Hours per week: 40

We are recruiting for a motivated and computer-literate Technical Support Operative to join a well-established manufacturing company in Buxton.
Our client is a UK manufacturer of brass compression fittings with a long-standing reputation for producing high-quality products. Due to the expansion of their in-house tool-making operation and continued staff progression, they are looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering who is keen to develop their skills and build a long-term career.
The Role
You will initially support the Technical Department and wider manufacturing operation with a range of practical and technical duties, including:
- Cutting metal billets to the correct dimensions using a band saw
- Loading existing programmes into CNC machines
- Loading billets and workpieces into CNC machinery
- Checking and loading tooling into CNC machines
- Carrying out pre-checks and operating CNC machines
- Monitoring production and machine performance
- Dimensional and gauge checking of components
- Deburring finished parts
- Making basic technical drawing changes and updates
- Assisting with basic quality control checks of purchased tooling and goods
- Preparing and pre-setting tooling for Rotary Transfer machines
- Completing relevant administrative duties
About You
Formal engineering qualifications are not required, but you must have a genuine passion for engineering and manufacturing, ideally demonstrated through practical experience or a serious engineering-related hobby.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Motivated and keen to learn
- Computer literate
- Practical and hands-on
- Interested in engineering and manufacturing
- Comfortable working with machinery and tools
- Able to follow technical instructions accurately
- Detail-oriented with a good approach to quality
- Keen to develop and progress within a technical environment
Previous knowledge of CAD/CAM or CNC machinery would be advantageous, but full training will be provided.
