Are you detail-oriented, organised, and passionate about supporting planning and placemaking initiatives? Opus People Solutions on behalf of North Northamptonshire Council is looking for a Technical Support Officer to join our Planning Policy and Placemaking Service, providing essential technical and administrative support across a range of activities that help shape our communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and administrative support to enhance service performance and customer satisfaction
- Manage shared email inboxes and respond to public enquiries professionally and promptly
- Maintain and collate data using mapping systems and databases
- Coordinate printing and distribution of public consultation materials
- Organise venues and logistics for meetings, events, and public exhibitions
- Conduct desk-based and on-site surveys to support planning policy
- Assist in preparing statutory monitoring reports under Section 35 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004
- Process and make recommendations for street naming and numbering in line with Council policy
About You
We''re looking for someone who is:
- Educated to GCSE level (Grade C / Level 4 or above) in Maths and English or equivalent
- Experienced in administrative processes and using Microsoft Office applications
- Able to understand planning documents, maps, and architectural drawings
- Skilled in prioritising workload and working independently
- A strong communicator with excellent customer service skills
- Willing and able to travel independently for site visits and events
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with GIS, planning systems (e.g., Idox, CDP Smart, Objective Keystone)
- Working knowledge of planning legislation and practice
- Ability to calculate areas, fees, and interpret plans
