OverviewWe seek an ambitious, experienced and self-motivated individual with specialist technical expertise in MR physics. You will provide advice, guidance, training and hands-on support in MR research to academics, clinicians, radiographers, and students. You will facilitate research on our MRI and PET-MR scanners by taking overall responsibility for developing and maintaining Quality Control systems, MRI protocol optimization, and implementation of emerging MR techniques. You will be the key point of contact with the scanner system suppliers for discussion of technical developments and researcher needs, including works-in-progress pulse sequences.
Responsibilities
Provide expert advice, guidance, training and hands-on support in MR research to academics, clinicians, radiographers and students.
Develop and maintain Quality Control systems for MRI research and operations.
Optimize MRI protocols and implement emerging MR techniques.
Act as the primary liaison with scanner system suppliers for technical developments and researcher needs, including works-in-progress pulse sequences.
About the Imaging FacilitiesThe University of Manchester’s Imaging Facilities provides state-of-the-art clinical imaging equipment to support world-leading research into basic science and human disease modelling. The Imaging Facilities manages two MRI scanners: a 3 T Philips Achieva and a 3 T GE Signa PET-MR. We also have dedicated access to a 3 T Philips MR scanner at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, supporting translational research. We support a wide spectrum of imaging research, in particular in neuro-imaging methods development, cognitive neuroscience, neuro-oncology, dementia, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular imaging.
