Technical Sales Manager
If your idea of technical sales is picking a product from a catalogue, this probably isn''t the role for you.
We''re recruiting for an established UK engineering business that designs and manufactures bespoke engineered solutions for industrial and manufacturing customers.
They are looking for an experienced Technical Sales Manager who can understand an application, get under the skin of what the customer actually needs and work with internal technical and design teams to develop the right solution.
You''ll inherit an active pipeline of opportunities, but this certainly isn''t an account management role.
You''ll be expected to develop existing customers, convert current opportunities and create new business of your own.
The Role
You''ll manage the complete sales process from initial conversation through to order, including:
Developing new and existing manufacturing and industrial customers
Taking over and converting an established pipeline
Visiting customer sites to understand applications and requirements
Turning customer problems into commercially viable technical solutions
Working alongside design, engineering and estimating teams
Deal values and sales cycles vary considerably. Some opportunities can move relatively quickly, while larger or more technically involved projects require a more consultative approach.
What We''re Looking For
The key is your technical sales background.
You''ll need experience selling a bespoke, engineered or application-led solution into manufacturing or industrial customers.
We''d particularly like to hear from people with experience around:
Fabrication | Material Handling | Industrial Equipment | Racking & Storage Systems | Engineered Products | Capital Equipment | Manufacturing Solutions
However, we''re more interested in how you sell than an exact product match.
If you''re accustomed to visiting a customer, understanding an application and working with technical colleagues to design, cost and sell a solution, your background could fit extremely well.
You''ll also need to be commercially sharp and comfortable generating new business rather than simply servicing existing accounts.
The Package
Circa -60,000 basic salary
Excellent OTE
Company car
Hybrid working
You''ll typically spend around three days per week at the Midlands office, with the remainder working from home or visiting customers, so you''ll need to live within a sensible commuting distance.
This is a great opportunity to join an established engineering business where there is already plenty happening, but still considerable scope to make your own mark.
